The goal is to get everyone talking about crowd investment in business
Money&Co.’s CEO Nicola Horlick is on a crusade – to take crowdfunding to the people. It starts in Chipping Norton tonight. Nicola is speaking at the Wine Bear, a small wine-retail business in the centre of the town, with the aim of explaining and promoting the concept of crowdfunding – a radical, simple but still relatively obscure way of bringing investors and businesses together.
Nicola has returned from a recent speaking engagment at the International Festival of Business in Liverpool with fire in her belly. She discovered from a fellow speaker that, as she writes in her latest blog, that “only 3 per cent of the UK population had ever heard of the concept.”
“Most crowdfunding sites having a minimum investment of only £100, so anyone who has savings can participate,” explains Nicola. “That is one of the things that I love about it. Rather than private-company investing being reserved exclusively for the very rich, everyone can now participate. My mission is to make sure that everyone has heard of crowdfunding.”
She’ll be doing that over a glass of wine tonight in Oxfordshire – the first of many such engagements ahead.
